Gardening is the most natural way of caring for the environment.
Plant life feed on water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide creating
carbohydrates and life-sustaining oxygen. You would think that in
order to control the build-up of greenhouse gasses such as carbon
dioxide, all you need to do is plant flowers and trees.
If you would like to start a garden but don’t know where
to begin, why not grow vegetables and herbs? You’ll save energy
in transportation from the farmer, to the grocer, then to your dinner
table, and you can be sure that what you are putting into your body
is all natural.
One item you may want to consider is a composter, which turns organic
refuse such as coffee grounds and banana peels into natural compost
to safely fertilize your garden, just make sure to keep cooked food
scraps and meat products out. Vermiculture can help speed up the
process; it takes time but is a safe and effective alternative to
synthetic compounds, which may become unstable.
Remember, ladybirds and other predatory insects can act as natural
pesticides in contrast to chemicals solutions that may harm your
garden and the environment.
Also, rainwater can be collected and filtered with the use of a
rain catcher to help cut down on water usage.
